The conference is a platform that enables MetroLALSA to expand its network and enrich relationships with professional legal professionals and associations that serve the Latina/o community. Among our initiatives, MetroLALSA organizes an annual law conference that caters to law professionals. The conference holds panel sessions that benefit a wide legal association, from pre-law students to lawyers, where CLE credits are earned. Since the beginning, our mission is to empower and unify the Latina/o legal community, from students to practicing attorneys. This conference, the Pa’lante Conference, is the central forum to achieving our goals.
Each year, the conference has been hosted by a different school with a different theme, but always with a clear objective: to help create future Latina/o leaders, to build and foster a network for these rising Latina/o leaders , and to empower our Latina/o communities to ensure their "voices" are heard. At the conference, our keynote and panelist speakers discuss and analyze contemporary issues affecting our communities, as well as provide invaluable insight to those in the legal profession. Over the years, we have been fortunate to host notable and inspirational Keynote speakers such as, the Honorable Rolando T. Acosta, Associate Justice of New York Appellate Division, First Department; and the Honorable Jenny Rivera, Associate Judge of the New York Court of Appeals.
The conference has created a platform that enables MetroLALSA to expand its network and enrich relationships with professional legal professionals and associations that serve the Latina/o community. We believe that as we continue to host the Pa'lante conference, Latina/o issues will be brought to the forefront of important discussions and, most importantly, will continue to bring prepared Latina/o leaders to proudly represent their communities.
