Nathaniel Pinero (He/Him), President
Nathaniel is the President of MetroLALSA and a 4L part-time student at Pace University’s Elisabeth Haub School of Law. Born and raised in Washington Heights, he comes from a Dominican and Puerto Rican background. Nathaniel works as a compliance liaison for the City of New York, ensuring regulatory adherence across multiple agencies.
He graduated from New York University with a degree in Sports Management, which sparked his interest in compliance within the sports industry and professional player unions. At Pace, he also serves as the MetroLALSA representative, connecting students with resources that support the Latinx law community.
Nathaniel is passionate about the intersection of sports, labor, and law, with a particular interest in compliance issues and the rights of professional athletes. He also enjoys exploring alternative dispute resolution (ADR) as a legal interest, appreciating its role in resolving conflicts efficiently. In his leadership role, Nathaniel builds partnerships to benefit law students across the region. He remains committed to promoting diversity in the legal field and developing professionally, with a focus on compliance, ADR, and sports law.
David De la Cruz (He/Him/él),
Vice President
David is a third-year law student at City University of New York School of Law, where he serves as Staff Editor for the CUNY Law Review and previously served as Co-Director of CUNY LALSA. He competed in the Bryant Moore Invitational Moot Court Competition at Howard University last year as part of CUNY Moot Court. His academic and professional interests include cybersecurity, data privacy, and appellate litigation.
During law school, he has gained diverse legal experience. He has worked as a Student Attorney at Main Street Legal Services’ Immigration and Non-Citizen Rights Clinic, where he engaged in appellate litigation, and interned at the Democracy Program of the Brennan Center for Justice. He has also served as a Judicial Intern with the Latino Judges Association and as a Summer Law Clerk, handling commercial vehicle and personal injury litigation. Additionally, he worked as a Research Assistant at CUNY School of Law, conducting legal research on algorithm-driven imaging technology in firearm forensics.
David was born in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico, and raised in El Paso, Texas. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Spanish, with a supplemental major in Chicano Studies, from New Mexico State University.
David is an active member of several bar associations, including the Latino Lawyers of Queens County, the Dominican Bar Association, and the New York City Bar Association, where he serves as a student member of the Technology, Cyber and Privacy Law Committee.
Outside of his legal work, David is a lifelong soccer enthusiast who has coached high school soccer, refereed games, and played soccer throughout his life.

Natalia Erazo (she/her),
VP of Public Relations
Natalia is a full-time 4th-year student in a dual-degree JD/MA program in Forensic Psychology at New York Law School and John Jay College of Criminal Justice. She graduated from the University of Hartford, where she majored in Psychology and Criminal Justice. Natalia is Vice President of Public Relations for MetroLALSA.
She was born in Queens, NY, and is proud of her Dominican roots. She is passionate about the intersection of psychology and law, particularly juvenile justice, prosecutorial work, and mental health law. During law school, she has interned at Mental Hygiene Legal Services, Harvard’s Center for Law, Brain, and Behavior, the Honorable Bianka Perez of Bronx County, the Bronx District Attorney’s Office in the Wrongful Conviction Unit, and currently externs with the NYC Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice, focusing on Alternatives to Incarceration and Diversion Programs. She has also contributed to legislative advocacy through the NYCLU Legislative Advocacy Clinic, where her work has centered on mental health legislation.
Natalia currently serves as Co-President of the Womxn of Color Collective (WOCC) and Vice President of the Latin American Law Student Association (LALSA) at NYLS, and is a Wilf Public Interest Scholar. She is deeply committed to mentorship, leadership, and creating pathways for diverse law students.
Natalia is passionate about bridging the fields of psychology and law to promote justice, fairness, and equity. She hopes to pursue a career in public service as a prosecutor dedicated to community-centered justice.
Ashley Guimarães-Lima (She/Her),
VP of Strategic Partnerships
Ashley is a part-time 2L at Pace University School of Law, where she serves on the executive board of LALSA and as Vice President of Strategic Partnerships for MetroLALSA. Born and raised in Connecticut with Brazilian roots, Ashley graduated from Sacred Heart University with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice.
She is currently working full-time at a personal injury law firm, gaining valuable hands-on experience while pursuing her legal studies. Ashley is passionate about intellectual property law and is deeply committed to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the legal profession—especially empowering women and underrepresented communities in law.
Outside of the legal field, Ashley is passionate about salsa dancing and enjoys practicing yoga, which brings balance and creativity to her life.

Shayna Ortiz (she/her),
VP of Social Action
Shayna is a second-year law student at the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University, where she is pursuing her passion for civil rights law. Her academic and professional interests include criminal law, constitutional law, and election law. Shayna is deeply committed to advocating for overlooked and marginalized communities. Shayna comes from a Puerto Rican household in the Bronx. She brings six years of campaign and political experience to her legal studies, having interned with the New York City Council and externed for Hon. Kim M. Parker in the Bronx Supreme Court – Criminal Term. She is a member of the Pace Law advocacy team as a competing member, as well as holding a position on the Student Bar Association at Pace Law.
Shayna earned her bachelor’s degree in Political Science with a minor in Leadership and Global Understanding from La Salle University. She has served on several boards and committees, including the Policy Committee of the Manhattan Young Democrats. As a proud New York City native, Shayna has consistently advocated for her community and is passionate about empowering other young people to do the same.
She plans to practice law in both New York City and Washington, D.C. Outside of her legal work, Shayna enjoys brunch, singing karaoke, reading in local coffee shops, and watching the Philadelphia Eagles!
William Acevedo-Hernandez (He/Him),
Alumni Director
William is a Plaintiff’s Personal Injury attorney in Forest Hills, NY, whose practice is focused on general negligence cases, including auto accidents, slip & fall, and trip & fall matters across NYC, Long Island, and Westchester County.
William was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, but was raised in New York. He received his B.A. in Government & International Politics from George Mason University in Fairfax, VA, in 2018. Upon graduation, he returned home to study at the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University, where he received his Juris Doctor in 2021. Upon graduation, William served the people of Queens County as an Assistant District Attorney prosecuting misdemeanor and felony offenses, including felony Hate Crimes, before leaving for his current practice in 2024.
William is admitted in New York State and federally in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York.
Cesar Ruiz (He/him/Él),
Alumni Director
Cesar is an Associate Counsel at LatinoJustice PRLDEF, working in the areas of voting rights and redistricting. He was born and raised in New York to parents who migrated from Puerto Rico. Cesar got his B.A from John Jay College in 2017. He is a first-generation Juris Doctor who graduated from CUNY School of Law in 2021 and was admitted to practice law in the state of New York in 2022. Cesar supports LatinoJustice’s current voting rights litigation, advocacy, and community education and engagement efforts in New York and Florida.
Cesar is LatinoJustice’s Lead Counsel in Fossella v. Adam, New York Communities for Change v. Nassau County, and Hispanic Federation v. Byrd.
